TORRANCE, Calif., March 22, 2006 – Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. today announced the company's new “iPod® Full Speed” promotion. The promotion brings greater awareness to the KCE-422i Full Speed Connection™ for iPod and kicks off sales of the CDA-9857 CD/MP3/WMA head unit, which is arriving in stores this month . The promotion offers U.S. customers a free KCE-422i cable at participating authorized Alpine dealers (while supplies last) with the purchase of a CDA-9857 from April 1 through June 30.

The campaign will launch with print ads in consumer magazines including Rolling Stone, The Source, Mac World and Car & Driver, and in dedicated channel magazines such as Car Audio & Electronics. Web marketing will include coverage on Yahoo! and Google. For dealers, there is a support kit that includes a poster for the window or wall, and a demo board decal that wraps around the CDA-9857. The kit also includes a CD ad kit with templates of pre-made ads, direct mail postcards, and promotional flyers to make it easy for retailers to synchronize their local marketing activities with the national promotion. The ad kit also includes all the logos, art files, and product photos needed for retailers to create customized collateral tailored for their own store.

The promotion will be backed-up by messaging on the Full Speed Connection for iPod microsite (, as well as a teaser announcement on Alpine's homepage ( ), both of which will go live on April 1. The “In Tune With Alpine” e-mail newsletter will be sent to the Alpine consumer e-mail database on April 4, as well.

“The KCE-422i is our third generation offering for delivering iPod content into the vehicle,” said Stephen Witt, vice president, Marketing, Alpine Electronics. “Our promotion is focused on driving a much broader range of digital consumers into stores to experience the faster speed control and great sound quality from this solution.”

The CDA-9857 (SRI $400) is an in-dash head unit that offers connectivity solutions and intuitive control over an extensive array of media formats and sources. When used with the KCE-422i, users can control the iPod directly through the CDA-9857. The head unit also offers a new built-in Percentage Search function for faster data transmission and easy file navigation, as well as full-tag artist, album, song and playlist information on the display, all while charging the iPod battery.
