ALPINE ELECTRONICS SHIPS NEW DOUBLE-DIN AUDIO/VIDEO HEAD UNIT|
TORRANCE, Calif., May 16, 2006 For those seeking a double-DIN 'control center' over their personalized array of audio/video/navigation (AV+N) sources and a sleek, polished look for their vehicle's dash, there is a solution. Alpine Electronics of America, Inc., the leading manufacturer of high-performance mobile electronics, is now shipping its double-DIN IVA-W200 AV Plus head unit. The IVA-W200 is a DVD/CD/MP3/WMA AV head unit with a vibrant 6.5-inch PulseTouch touch-screen monitor, which reduces the need for protruding knobs and buttons and leaves a clean, finished appearance throughout the vehicle's dash.
The IVA-W200, designed to fit into today¹s increasingly popular double-DIN opening, offers flexible, intuitive control over multiple audio, video, navigation and Bluetooth hands-free components. The unit boasts Alpine's third-generation PulseTouch touch-screen technology, which gives the user tactile feedback confirmation when the on-screen buttons or slider controls are used. As a result, there are only a few slim buttons on the IVA-W200's bottom frame, for a stealthy, streamlined look. Its SwingFace design allows the entire faceplate to swing down and reveal the disc slot; it also adjusts to accommodate different viewing angles and reduce glare.
MULTIPLE AUDIO PLAYBACK OPTIONS
The IVA-W200 can control and play many of the newest digital entertainment services and portable consumer electronics, including XM or SIRIUS satellite radio, HD Radio, iPod®, and Microsoft USB-based MP3 players. It allows for Bluetooth hands-free control of compatible cellular phones and streaming audio from Bluetooth A2DP enabled portable devices. (Separate adapters, tuner boxes and service subscriptions required for any of these
The IVA-W200 can connect to Alpine's new Full Speed Connection for iPod cable (KCE-422i, $30 SRI), which delivers a more real iPod experience in the vehicle. iPod owners simply plug in any iPod with a dock connector to the optional KCE-422i. This allows the IVA-W200 to control the iPod via the head unit¹s touch control screen. As well, the IVA-W200 shows advanced digital media tag information by displaying artist, album, song and playlist data for easy file navigation. Finding that specific song is quick and easy thanks to Percentage Search, a built-in feature on the IVA-W200 that assigns sections of iPod files to the scroll bar on the bottom of the display monitor.
The IVA-W200's 24-bit DAC produces high-end sound detail and superior resolution from CDs and DVDs. The IVA-W200 can serve as the controller for a multi-channel sound system with Dolby® Digital, DTS®, Dolby Pro Logic II® sound playback when connected to either Alpine¹s multi-channel sound processor (PXA-H701, $550 SRI) or one of two Alpine amplifiers with built-in sound processor (MRA-D550, $950 SRI; or MRA-F350, $550 SRI).
EXPAND WITH YOUR CHOICE OF NAVIGATION SOLUTIONS
Alpine¹s award-winning fixed navigation system, the NVE-N872A ($1,700 SRI), or just-released Blackbird portable navigation device, can be added to and controlled via the IVA-W200. The DVD-based, satellite-linked NVE-N872A offers hands-free voice control and optional real-time traffic capabilities when connected to the IVA-W200. Dock the Blackbird ($750 SRI) into the car with the PMD-DOK1 docking system (available June 2006), and all mapping and driving instructions, as well as control functions, are displayed on the IVA-W200¹s larger PulseTouch monitor.
The IVA-W200 is available now at authorized Alpine retailers with a suggested retail index of $1,100.
