2 Amps or 1 Amp: Stealtbox & Components
Posted by 04Runner on 12-25-2006 11:28 PM:

HELP!!! I have a '03 4Runner and just got a JL Stealthbox. When I install this, I would also like to get some new speakers in the doors (6.5 components in the front and 6.5 coxials in the rear). So here is my question, can I get one amp for the componentes and the Stealthbox and run the coxials off the headunit or do I need to get two amps (one for the componets and one for the sub)? I was looking at JL 300/4, would that work for the one amp set up or are there better options out there. Thanks.

A single amp would be the way to go IMO. The 300/4 would work, but personally I'd rather find an amp that doubles (or at least increses) its output when bridged. The 300/4 would be great for your fronts, but bridging the rear channels will only give you ~150w for the sub. Most quality 75x4 amps will do close to 300w bridged, which I think would benefit the w3 noticably.

I'd consider something along the lines of the Alpine MRV-F345, or Fosgate P8004.
