Type X Box Design
Ok so iv picked up a 12" Alpine Type X sub to replace my comps in my buick. I was looking at having the box for this sub ported so i can get lots and lots of bass. I wanna try to be the car you hear a couple blocks away down the road. Alpine's box specs seem way to small for this sub. Other people have boxes as big as 3 cubic feet with a port tuned to 32hz. I think 3 cubic feet is getting to be too big for the sub, but idk because it seems to work well for them. What do you guys reccomend?

most people put the type r subs in 2.5-4 cf per sub, 3cf for an X is small IMO. especially if you want it tuned so low, 34-36 is where they shine!

alright Sic work your magic for me lol How big should this box be? Where should I have the port facing? (I'm assuming just toward the trunk) and will 34-36hz be a good tuning for my subs? Because i wanna be able to hit the lows real nice. lol

3.5 gross internal tuned at 36 ( fs is only 28 so any lower risks damaging the subs suspension!! ) if the box is 16 tall the port would be 14.5 x 2.5 x 15.25 deep. should hammer the lows all the way to 28 pretty loud and start to peak at 44 all the way upto 76 extremely loudly ( between 4 and 8 db rise !! ). set the x over at 80-90 hz and your set. 3 cf you start to lose some low end and it raises the f3 quite a bit. ( f3 is the -3db point where the freq is 1/2 as loud as the fb which is the tuning freq.)

in a trunk car put sub and port on the same face with the port all the way at 1 end and the sub at the other end for a long slot box. face it to the rear bumper. in a hatch try the port back and the sub up. in a truck do the sub forward and the port up.

the only thing i can find even close is the ta8502 but its a 2 channel amp that does 750rms x 1 at 2 ohms bridged. 8500 is a speaker model not an amp model. and 1000 rms for 80$ ??
i did find this tho:

cool... i always did like their older amps..
never really had any expierence with MTX at all. He also said the RCA's jiggle around a little bit but a piece of styrofoam keeps them in place. Would this effect the perfromance of the amp at all?

send me anemail and i will do an xps cut sheet so you know how big to cut each piece of wood, you will need to deduct the port width from the length of the face but thats it.
