 good sub set up-help

Hello, I am thinking of getting into an suv or an extended cab light truck in the spring and I want to do some generic homework on good system designs before I get the vehicle. -What would be a good system set up that is loud, but above all sounds good? -Any suggestions on amps? I have been looking into memphis, JL ect. -What kind of sub(s) would you go with? I have been thinking of going with one or two JL 10w7's. -What kind of speakers? Thanks for any suggestions!

I would go with JL w7. I have had many systems in my ext cab toyota. Two mtx 10s, 1 sony 12, 2 sony 12's, 1 10 w3, 2 10 w3, 2 12w3, and finally one 10 w7. I have had this system since the day the W7 hit the local market. Mine is set up for spl. I am running a JL 500/1 to my w7. I have hit 140's before but 135 very consistent. This setup also has unbelievable sql. I love this speaker because contrary to what many say this speaker is extremly effiecent. It will do anything you want it to do. Spl, Sql or anywhere in between. It does things what most 12's or 15's wont do. You can listen to any type of music and it will reporduce it very well. I personally do not like kicker. The examples I have seen with the L7 or L5's sucked. They are very loud but you have to like the way those sound. They have a very different sound. If you go with 2 JL 10w7's. Go ahead and splurge and get you a JL 1000/1 and run them in a series to achive a 1.5 ohm load which the JL amps are made to do. Few know this but the new JL amps were actually designed to be used with the w7's or the 6 ohm w6's.

Thanks for the input, I am working on the 10w7. So far, it is the best sub I have heard... But the price hurts! What Kind of Box is good for a single 10w7?

PORT PORT PORT PORT PORT. JL subwoofers absolutley suck in a sealed box. PLus there is many advantages to a ported box. A instant 3 db gain on average, and they run cooler becasue new air is always getting to the voice coil. Oh yeah did I mention to port that son of a bitch. I already have a design for a 10w7 that is literally the perfect box for that sub. If you would like it I will email it to you. Just drop me a line (lightningdrvr385@aol.com) and I will send the specs back out. Buyloud.com has a 10w7 for 479.00 I am sure you could find it cheaper if you look.
