 SVC vs. DVC

ok, if i get a sub thats 400WRMS and its just SVC, is it the same as one thats 400WRMS DVC? i dont see a diff...and if i get 2 4ohm SVC, can i wire them to 2 ohm load? im lost on the whole wiring for 2 ohm load, 4, 8 w.e

ok here is how you find the ohms of the speaker... in a series setup all the resistances of the resistors(voice coils) are added up together. Now for wiring them in parallel this is a formula that you use to determine the ohm load... (R1 x R2 x etc.)/(R1 + R2 + etc.). Hopefully this helps you out.

R1 and R2 represent each voice coil. (r = resistor or ohms)

Yes a 400w svc sub can handle the same power as a 400w dvc sub. The dvc gives you more wiring options. Lets say you have an amp that is 400wrms @ 4 ohms, and is 800wrms @ 2 ohms. You could get 2 400w 4ohm svc subs, or 1 800w 2ohm dvc sub. Check out this wiring guide that will show you the options of svc/dvc wiring. Also check here for more explanation on dvc subs.
