Volume issue with Pioneer unit, plz help

OK heres my problem, When i'm @ idol my cars stereo volume is normal nothing wrong, but as I accelerate the volume rises and rises even though it still displays the same volume number, then when I let off the gas the volume slowly drops back to normal. I suspect i need either a new battery or a new alternator, my mechanic told me a long time ago before i got my new deck that the alternator isnt working right but it will do. Its starting to get on my nerves and i would greatly appreicate some insight on how to fix this problem.

i don't think that is the problem.. but i would replace it, wouldn't want to go driving around with a bad alt. what do they cost like 50-60 bucks + install?

What model is your Pioneer head unit? The Premier P8MP that I have has a feature called ASL (for: automatic sound levelizer). As your speed increases it increases the volume to compensate for road noise. If your h/u has this feature and its active, that could be the culprit.

Thought the same thing. Even though my ASL never was that noticable.
