 Zapco Ref500 amp

i was thinking of getting a zapco REF500 amp to power one 12 inch RE SE sub. i recently saw that the amp is class A/B. is this good or bad? should i look at a different amp that is class D for my sub? if so, any suggestions on which amp(s) to look at would be great. around the same prce range would be good (no more than $450). according to the RE website, the SE is dual 4 ohm, so i think that means i need around 500-600 watts at 2 ohms, correct me if i'm wrong. so should i stay with the zapco or look at something else? thanks in advance.

what size alternator do you have? and are your using a capacitor? a/b amp will suck some serious juice from your battery. and even at 600 watts it will make your lights dim and strain hard on your stock alternator and electrical system. class d is a better bet even though zapco makes great amps
