 Favorite bands....What's yours??

Well we all came to this site because of our stereos and the interest we have in them. Now what's the reason you have an interest in stereos? Music obviously. So what's your favorite band to listen to on your system?

I myself have no one favorite band. I would have to say though that my favorites(all rock and metal and more than one for sure) could and would be judged by who consistantly puts out a good or great CD, not just one good CD and then the rest suck ass.

Bands that have produced over the long hall and continue to come through for me would be Chevelle, Cold, Staind, Filter, Trust Company(so far just 2 CD's), Rammstein, Deftones, Saliva, and when they were together....Creed who mostly is now Alter Bridge, minus of course Scott Stapp who's voice was starting to get old anyway. New singer is great, I was feeling the need for a change on that one.

As I said, I cannot just pick one favorite for myself. There are SOOOOO many more that were not included here because they only have one CD currently released and are too new for another one to have come out yet. Otherwise you'd see names like Evanescence, Shinedown, and Seether on here(like you just did).

One band that I also love is Dust For Life, but unfortunately they ran into problems before they could really take off with their label. Every song they ever done, including the unreleased ones, was completely awesome to me though. If you can still find a copy of their debut CD, used or otherwise, I highly recommend you to get it. It was self titled if anyone is interested. They also have another self released CD out entitled Degrees of Black. It is totally awesome as well. I ended up downloading most of the songs that are on it though a couple years back after I found out that they would probably not be releasing another CD again(though they eventually did). I have yet to purchase their newest one, but I will soon cause it has a couple of songs on it that I don't have.

You say you have all of Rammstein's albums? Do you have their newest one, "Reise Reise"? If so, did you like it? I have not gotten it yet.

The only thing I don't like about the Amerika song is when Till Lindermann starts singing in english. I like the all german lyrics. Gives it a darker and almost evil sound. I was under the impression that none of the band even spoke english. I think I read that once. I heard that the english versions of Du Hast and Engel on the Sehnsucht album were done by another singer. Do you think that is true or not?

You ever wonder what he's saying when he's singing? I translated some of it once, a word at a time on an internet translator website, which may not be a completely direct translation doing it that way, but close enough to get a general feeling for it. Some of it was pretty hard core. I also know someone who's mother is german, and was raised in Germany. She herself was raised here in the U.S.(her father is american) but speaks fluent german, and she read some of the lyrics one day(I brought her the CD case) and her eyes got really big, and she refused to tell me what it meant. Is that bad or what?? It was the Sehnsucht album that she was reading. I don't know which song.

yeah, that ruins the feel to amerika. As far as i know Till and Richard can speak english, but i havnt any idea about the rest of the band. I saw an interview back from when Herzeleid was new, they were being accused of being nazis because the song Weisses Fleisch. Till and Richard were the only ones i saw speak. i only saw like 2 minutes of it.

Herzeleid has got to be one of their best CD's! That song Weisses Fleisch absolutely rocks!!! The first two Rammstein CD's are loaded with slammin' bass too, by the way. I had a single 12" Pioneer sub bridged to a Rockford Fosgate Punch 250a2 amp in the trunk of a 92 Mercury Topaz, and the first time I played any Rammstein on it, I thought the sub was going to turn inside out it was hitting so hard. You should try that if you haven't already. It'll rival any rap music for bass. Also in the middle of the song Engel on Sehnsucht, there is a single bass note that is really really deep(don't know what freq.) that will absolutely rattle your teeth if you have the right setup. My Pioneer 12 and Punch amp used to hit it, but I have not had a setup since that would even come close. It comes across as barely perceivable most of the time if you don't have a pretty larger sub and a lot of power to push it. My rear view mirror in that car used to look like a blur when that bass note hit. It's right when the song slows down and you can hear it, just one really deep blast, just before the women begin to sing their part with no music accompanying them.

theres only one....RUSH! Simply the most talented musicians of the last 30 years. Geddy Lee and Neil Peart are unarguable the greatest Bassist and Drummer Ive ever heard. the biggest obstacle to get by with them are Geddy's vocals, but once you realize that the substance of the music is so superior to all the crap made in the last 10 to 15 years...you will never go back. there has been no music made in the last 10 years that is worth note.

Michael Bolton, I celebrate his whole collection. I'll be honest with you, I'm a Michael Bolton fan. For my money, it doesn't get any better than when he sings "when a man loves a woman."

Well I have way to many genres of music and artist that I like,so I wont even bother trying to type any favorites on here. But to save alot of space and to let everyone know a complete genre of music I absolutely can not stand,I would have to say country music is the worst music ever created..In my opinion of course..LOL!!

Well, on that I would most definitely have to agree. Just about every country song or artist out there, I cannot stand to listen to. Too much singing through their noses and sounding all whiny cryin' and shit.

It's something about that twangy way they sing and most of the songs by women sound more like they are whining than singing. Even the steel guitars sound all whiny like they're cryin'. Most always they make you feel sad. I like music that makes me feel good, or maybe lets out some pent up anger and aggression like rock and metal does. Yeah, they have a lot of songs that are morbid and dark sounding too, but they don't leave you feeling depressed when you hear them. For me, music is an expression of emotions and feelings, and being sad and depressed is the worst one of all, so why would I want to hear a bunch of songs about losing your wife and kids, and being an alcoholic, and people dying and you missing them and all that bullshit.

And I'm sure someone will disagree with me on this one, but of all the country singers out there, I think the one I can't stand to hear the most is Reba McKentire. Her voice is the singly most annoying voice of any singer anywhere. Way too much whining going on there. Only one good thing about country music would be seeing Faith Hill naked. Just as long as she shuts up and don't sing anything that is.

I always thought Rush's lead singer was a woman before. I only just recently, like this year, found out that it wasn't. I don't think I ever really gave Rush a chance. They were more before my time I think. I didn't get into music until I was 14 in the late 80's and I started right out on Gun's -N- Roses "Appetite for Destruction" and immediately developed a taste for the harder crunchier guitars of heavy metal and hard rock music. Later on when they started screaming instead of just singing, it got even better. Sounds like someone gouging out your eyeballs sometimes, but I love it. I give Kurt Cobain credit for changing the face of modern rock and metal and sending it in the direction it has gone in today. Too bad he hated himself. He was crazy, and that's what it takes to make the music I like.
