  2 10" Alpine Type R & Alpine M300: Would this work?

A guy is trying to sell me two brand new 10" Type R subs (1021D, 2004 model) and Alpine MRD-M300 amp cheaper than one 12" Type R (1241D) with the same amp. Is this a good deal? Would two 10" Type R (double 2ohm) be underpowered with only one M300 (300W on 2ohm load)?

That amp is only putting out 300-350 rms @ 2ohms. (I got 2 different specs on it) I think you would need 600 wrms (300 wrms per sub). The sub and amp looks good but yeah I think you would need a more powerful amp.

I was thinking about this setup only because it was slightly cheaper than one 12 Type R with the same amp. If you would have to choose between two 10 + m300 and one 12 + m300 which one would it be?

I've already had to go through that and I choose 2 10's. I bet most people would say choose 1 12. They argue that it would hit deeper because of more surface area. I like being different and I have my trunk set up the way I like it.

I tell ya I love those speakers. I would just look for an amp with a little more power. Here is what I did. http://www.carstereo.com/admin/gallery_edit_photo.cfm?galleryid=903&photoid=11117
