Cell Phone Mute Lead - Gnd/+12?
I am using a Clarion DXZ835MP head unit, and would like to start using the cell phone mute lead to attenuate/mute the system output. I hope to use a simple switch to activate the feature (no hands-free cell phone kit), but I'm not clear on the specifics of functionality. Does it activate when the lead is grounded? When +12 V is applied? Would a momentary input work, or does it need to be 'latching'? Just need some insight on how it works before I disassemble my dash and potentially ruin my HU using trial-and-error :) .

you sound intelligent, so you will understand this...it needs a latched ground....just use a toggle switch to ground the wire for attenuation!

Well, there you go... I was goona suggest just applying the wire to gorund first to see if it works, and if it doesn't tap it on a 12v source real quick... I might use this with my HU to mute the system when popo's are coming... They don't like cars that can be heard 1 mile away on a clear morning... :)

Well, that was going to be my plan if I never saw responses to my post :) . But thanks for the replies...that's all I needed to know.
