Used to have the viper responder...like the first one that came out couple years back. But the remote, start giving me problems after a lil while and i finally got tired of it and snatched it out. I want a new set up...alarm/remote start. anyone knows whats the hottest and most reliable thing out right now. i need some input. thanx in advance!

I like installing and using the Compustar 2W8000FM ( just like the 2W900FM ) alarm & remote starter combination systems.

Do you happen to know a good place to get it online for a decent price so i could install one myself (never have before)? Or do you think it would be better to buy it from a shop and have them take care of it?

if you have never installed an alarm before, let the shop do it! alarms can be a true bitch to install!

Ive been installing Prestige for a while a ton of remote start with or without pager, and never have any kind of problem with em. Also viper/Python/Clifford/Avital ive installed em and NEVER had any complain or problem, good n cheap I like Autopage. mainly an alarm goes bad cause of unproper installation. ive fixed a lot of crapy installations and thats why they fail. whatever you do...please dont go to the cheapest shop you find, its better to put 25-50$ more and have it installed on a GOOD place, where you know its not gonna be fast nor cheap installation. its your car, if you care so much about your stereo and all the wirings, take it to a good shop and keep it clean and nice. also for warranty issues dont buy it online. if the alarm fails who are you going to blame? the shop who installed it or the online shop? whos gonna cover warranty on it? either way the most expensive part is the labor, not the alarm, theyr fairly cheap. like buying new speakers lol.

CompuStar has been around the longest doing the 2way pager thing and is the only one I trust in my Mountaineer. The pager works better then the others and has alot more features on it. Omega then came out with their 2way system and in the 2 1/2 years I have been working with their line I have only had 1 unit give me a problem and that was with the remotes. DEI products like Vipper, Clifford, Avatel,Python,Hornet and what ever other brand they make all tend to have problems with the system hence they always are redesigning their system. I was a big DEI dealer for years and once I found out that they came out with their 2 way after Omega I tried the Omega and well I never looked back. I would say if you want top of the line with all the bells and crap and don't mind spending the $$$ get a CompuStar... if you want to save a little bit of cash get a Omega unit... hell Omega unit is cheaper then the DEI units.
