2002 Cavalier aftermarket deck possible problems?

Hey, I just bought a 2002 cavalier, but I hear that there may be problems putting in an aftermarket deck, anything ranging from losing your door chime (useless to me anyway) to making the car run poorly and losing airbags (fairly major) Can anyone tell me what the deal is with this, because I've heard that (a) you just hook the deck up to the ignition like usual and take the factory deck out, and live without your door chime, or (b) you relocate your factory deck to the trunk with a cable extender, then wire your aftermarket deck in, and live without your door chime.. Any good/bad points on either? I've had some experience here on the older vehicles, but I've never seen a radio actually hooked into main vehicle functions like this one, or is it? T Thanks for the help -Meatball!

 2002 chevy

that veicle has what is called a rds radio. the body control module in the car runs some of its signals through the factory radio.many companys have made some interface harness for this veicle like scosche and other companys. if your asking if you will lose the dor chime if you install a radio with out one of these harnesses. the answer is yes.aloung with alot of other things like your instruiemnt cluster and strange lights staying on on the dash. my sugestions is to use the harness that they recomend.
