 trunk won't lift...

I know this is a car stereo forum but hey you never know...anyway my damn trunk won't lift...(98 Contour) even after I put extra powerful trunk struts on it...it holds itself up but won't lift itself and I KNOW the struts work so it has to be something else...any suggestions?

It's the fact you didn't do enough curls as a child. Or your trunk lid is too scrawny to do a sit up(weakling) Either way, we're here to pump[clap] you up.

Could be a little more specific? What do you mean the trunk won't lift? As in, you hit the trunk switch and it won't open by itself?

The trunk just sits there when I hit the switch.

no, not sure how to do that. I haven't had time to look at it in a few days. I was gunna take the part where it connects to the trunk apart and clean that.

well not sure...I'm at school right now so I can't check. But how hard is it to take a trunk off and clean the hinges and stuff (in general). Also any tips on cleaning it? What to use like degreaser or something?

If the bolts are rusted, you may need some "loose nut" a few wrenches, a few screwdrivers, lots of WD-40 or something like that, enough grease too lubricate the locking system and hinges. It take usually 30 minutes to 1 hour to get the job done. fairly easy. You just need the right tools and you will be ok. BEFORE REMOVING PARTS, BE SURE TO CAREFULLY LOOK AT WERE THEY GO AND HOW THEY ARE ASSEMBLED. This will avoid mistakes and lost of time.
