 frustration! (amp & sub help)

So my old amp blew (it was a sony), so I decided to just go ahead and upgrade everything. I bought 2 10" kicker CVR's (300rms & dual voice coils) and a kicker 300.1 amp (mono, 150rms). so i hooked it up and the amp went into protection mode when i tried to turn it up; it wouldn't get loud at all. so i traded it in for the next amp up, the 400.1; this one is also mono with 200 rms. this one goes a little louder but it still shuts off pretty low. is this because i have 2 subs on a mono amp? what amp should i get to push these subs? I have the subs wired parallel (i don't even know if i'm saying this right); should i rewire the subs somehow? Thanks in advance!

No its only because they are under powered, They only get 100 watts rms each.. Mines are rated 250 watts rms each and they are pushed by a Class D Mono Amp that is rated 550 watts rms.. Man that is fucking loud!!! Seriously my clothes are moving. In your case I'd go with an Class D mono amp that delivers at least 500 watts rms, 600 will be perfect.. MONO AMPS RULES.

^^^^ That's what I was thinking, but the amp should handle 1 ohm. Are the subs dual 4 or dual 2? Do you have them wired in parallel correctly?

wow, i don't know if they're dual four or dual two; how do i know this? First, they told me to wire them in series, and it blew the fuses in the amp. another guy told me to wire them in parallel by running positive to positive and neg. to neg. for each one. so...i don't know. the subs are 10" Kicker compVR's. Also, the people at circuit city said it may be that i need a lower guage power wire (it's currently 8, i think). thanks again for the help. peace
