 Rear View Mirror

Besides removing the rear view mirror has anyone found a solution to keep your rear view mirror from dancing the funky chicken when you pump up the volume?

 what i have found

my mirror is a ball in socket. I found that if I push really hard on it or pull really hard on it, it enters a tighter fit. not sovling my problem but I am able to tell if its a car or truck behind me. other than that... I got nothing.

 Idea

My girlfriend is far from a genius but she has figured out some what of a solution. Take a peice of styrofoam and wedged it behind the mirror. If you do it right you won't be able to see it. Just a thought. You could even paint the styrofoam a color to blend in.

 dancing rear view mirror.

im guessing that if you can get a piece of metal strapping you can wrap it around the shaft of the mirror once, screw it or whatever then screw the other end of the strap to the above of the mirror in the ceiling. (in a ceiling brace, not through the roof!) i had a 1987 honda crx and those have little rubber blocks holding it in place so they dont dance. another suggestion is gom to a scrap yard and find a crx and take the mirror and replace it with yours.
