  Video Monitor HELP!

i have a monitor im trying to hook up. Never done one before so bare with me. The power wire is actually two wires. one red, one black. the red obviously is the 12v...but is the black a ground? ground it to what...the chasis? it doesnt seem right. if the 12v is hot...is the monitor always on even when the HU is off? its getting installed in a door panel (see my gallery) Somebody please describe how to install on of these things....thanks
