Pioneer HU's and there free Bonus...Alternator noise

I posted a similar thread in the amp section.

I am curious to everybodies alt noise sollutions. And not to be a smart ass, but I think everyone runs the RCA's along a different path than the power wire.

My Pioneer has not induced any noise.............although it's not been hooked up yet either. I sure hope the P880PRS doesn't come with this bonus gift

It is usually only a factor with multiple amps, I had the 880 before I got the 980, and did have problems, but it was running 4 big amps

which 880 did you have? I'll be running two amps in my setup so I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed.

the only 880, if you do pick up noise, it is probably the combination of using the fr and rr rca's. It seems to be worse with Kicker amps, but the funny thing is, just by changing to an Alpine, no noise, the only problem is the new Alpines kinda suck, and I like the 980. My next solution is going to be a line driver, because when I had the 860 which had higher voltage, it was almost non existant

I don't want to be a smartass myself.....but you got everything grounded really good?? No paint, just shiny metal around the bolt your ground wire is on?? I hear sometimes a bad ground can cause noise too.

I'll be using front/rear and sub rca's and they'll be run to Soundstream amps. God I hope I don't get the whine.......I've never had a system that had it and I hope it doesn't start now especially since this is going to be the best system I've ever built and installed.

RCAs and HU all 8ga? wtf? dont tell me your running anything 8ga off your HU. why would you DO that? and as fer RCAs, 8GA RCA? isnt that bigger than the RCA pin? and I highly doubt your running 2ch RCAs in 8ga as that wire would effectively be 4GA in width, if not much wider.

HU unit ground and each rca ground is run to 8 gauge wire then grounded to the chassis.

but... why? does that just seem overly excessive to anyone else or just me? My RCAs dont even have a ground on them and I found the std 18ga or whatever off the HU was fine

Better ground, Less noise issues, car is a unibody, no frame. Same reason you upgrade the factory ground underneath the hood.

Ground the rca's behind the head unit grounds the signal, keeping everything in the same loop.

Okay, then I can understand why would would ground there then, but 8GA? isnt still just factory 18 coming out of the hu? or do you mean you ground the Hu Casing directly with 8ga? and for RCAs, man, I havnt even SEEN Rcas with a ground on them since the old record days, lol

Factory ground, 16gauge wire wrapped and taped around RCA shield(plug)x6 to block to 8gauge to frame
