Around 100-300 bucks + installation is the going rate.

A secondary battery will be useful, and will be less then a HO ALT

excessive amperage alternators seem to be much more dependable than HO from what ive seen.

i really dont see the point in putting a second battery in and not having the power to charge it all properly, go with a big alt first id say.

Get an HO(high-output) alternator. All cars come with a standard alternator that is rated for the cars stock electrical system. The stock alt. provides all the power the car needs. When you put in a 1000W amp, your alternator now needs to provide an extra 1000 watts of power. Putting in another battery doesn't solve the problem. The amp is still drawing more power than the stock alternator can provide. Eventually the batterys are depleted since the stock alt. can't recharge what is taken out. Doing the "big-3" won't solve the problem, of less power either, all that does is create a larger "path" for electricity to follow.

It doesn't matter if you want it, it's something you're probably going to need.
