 quick question

this may sound really stupid but...some sites say that the speakers i want won't fit my car and some say they will. How do i know if a speaker is going to fit.. or is there a way (even if it can get more complicated) to really make any speaker in a close size range fit?? help me out here..

Honestly, I would check with Crutchfield they're pretty knowledgeable. Just my 2 cents (opinion)

First rule of car audio... There is ALWAYS a way. Just about anything you can imagine can be done if your willing to go the distance with the project. Its entirely possible to replace 3 1/2" dash speakers with 8" subs If you were willing to do some cutting and probly alot of custom fabricating. In fact most all the cars on this forum with component speakers have undergone some kind of modification to allow them to fit in the factory (or sometimes entirely new) locations. It all just comes down to how "custom" you wanna go.

its a 2001 honda civic ex sedan.

and some say certain coaxial 6.5's can fit in the rear dash and others say those same speakers can't. so idk.. its kinda hard to look around when you don't know whats going to fit.

sometimes brackets and stuff can be in the way of magnet clearances.. thats easily fixed with spacers and a custom speaker grill tho.

typically its due to depth issues. I think you have like 2.75in of depth to work with. But you can fit almost anything into an install with enough creativity and know how.
