Building the best competion box for spl?
I have been building my own enclousures since the early 90's but i have always been partial to vents, been buling them forever! now i have started building ported boxes and dont like the way it performes versus the vented now what im trying to figure out is what is the best tuning for competition? or for that matter what kind of box? so who knows the best out there" im sure db or spl numbers will prove what ya know.

how much space are you willing to use?
2 PUNCH HX2'S WIRED @ 1 OHM THEIR 1200 PEAK BUT AM LOOKING TO GET SOME TEAM R.F. OR RE XXX HAVE A FEW AMPS 500 DSM 250M2 AND 5000 PHD WANTING TO USE THE 5000 AND GOING BUILD A WALL SO SPACE IS NOT AN ISSUE BUT SEPERATE BOXES VENTED OR A DROP PORT SET UP IS WHAT I WANT TO DO. SO IM LOOKING TO FIND THE BEST WAY TO DETERMINE THE SIZE OF THE BOXES AND THE VENT DIMENSIONS STRICTLY FOR SPL NO NEED FOR DAILY DRIVER.

what kind of car? if its something big, then doing a bandpass wall would probably work out best.

doing it in my car on the post was gonna buy an suv but figured that with the size of the entire back from the pillars would be plenty of space after taking out everything and making the car a pure comp car, im still buying an suv but just for the fam. so the back half of the car will be modified to the needed specs for max spl

doesnt look like you will have enough room for bandpass. a standard wall will be your best bet, with the subs on the passenger side and the port on the drivers side (driver side port is a big advantage on the meter). what size are your subs?

there is really no way of knowing what to tune to. i did a spl wall in a ford focus once with 2-15's and about the same amount of power, started off with the enclosure at 18 ft^3. the port was 34 high, and 12 wide. port length is something that you just have to mess around with, to get it to peak out, then you change the box depth by adding 1 layer of mdf to the back wall, then retune the port again, and repeat until you get it as loud as it will get. changing the box depth makes the wavelength shorter, wich will tune it higher. playin a higher frequecy is more efficient because the amp draws less power to produce power.
do you have a meter?

hmmm, yeah i understand that its so hard to find that sweet spot. i havent got a meter yet im gonna try and pick one up after new years, ive heard they have some deals on splmeter .com id love just to buy tremlab that would be great, they should just make a program that will tell you the differnce in boxes by size and max tuning specs. that would be the way to go a common cross reffrence would even be nice.
