are you wanting a flip down or just a plain square?? the flip down is popular since the mounting is so much easier. either way check out millionbuy.com or direct at http://www.millionbuy.com/flipto102.html or here http://www.millionbuy.com/flip104up.html try this one too http://www.millionbuy.com/unihr.html

Ebay, it's the cheapest you'll find them regardless of brand. I just picked up a 7.2 wide screen Legacy for 75 bucks and free shipping. It's refurbished but comes with a one year warranty so if it dies in a year, I definitely got my 75 worth. It's top dashboard mount by the way. No point in an overhead when it's only any good for people in the back seat. Even your front passenger won't be able to view the flip down ceiling mount designs.

you can front mount but better not get caught driving with it on.

He was full of it dude. Cops lie about all sorts of crap and will write people tickets for things that aren't even laws and get away with it. GPS units are generally dash mount and people ride around with them on all the time. They can only ticket you if it's on or obstructs your view, check your state laws because I'm sure they are the same or similar to mine. Now the roof mounts, unless you have 2 side view mirrors they can ticket you for those as long as they're flipped down, even if it's not on, because it obstructs your view.

no he was correct. the only exception for a screen mounted in front of the driver is gps

I just got a letter from the DMV, as far as Ohio goes, there are absolutely no laws regulating car video systems. I suspect very few states are regulating them just yet with how ultraconservative Ohio is.

What a cop can do here is, claim that you were watching TV while driving and sight you for reckless driving. However, proving the legitimacy of the citation won't be easy unless you actually do wreck or cause a wreck.

Regardless, there is absolutely no law in regards to where you can mount monitors. Just like any other accessory you install, it' can't obstruct your view which means dash mount is perfectly legal just like I said. You should check with your local DMV, that cop was very likely full of crap. I've witnessed cops write citations for things that aren't actually crimes and just write it up under a code they can manipulate to fit the supposed crime. Pay it and they get away with it, challenge it in court though and they'll get reprimanded. Not all cops are bad so to speak but plenty are bullies that abuse their power and lie through their teeth. I think you got fed a load of dog shyt man. That claim about the GPS made absolutely no sense anyway. Whether it's a movie or directions you're looking at, it's still a monitor. You guys are definitely mistaken. Contact your DMV.

As it is, there are new cars being used in a lot of precincts with not only the dash mounted computer but a video system that shows behind the car and they'll be linking to cameras mounted around the neighborhoods as well as the other patrol cars. That's a HUGE distraction. Check them out:

http://www.tsoitom/in_car_video_systems.htm

I did some research and now about every state has at least a few cities using those systems.

well, ohio is not alabama. and thats where i live.

That's why I suggested you contact your DMV. I'd bet money that cop was full of it and they don't regulate the systems in your state either.

dude, your going way to damn far into this. the screen was in eye sight. i dont give a shit who tells you what. if its in sight its illegal. hell even if it was a bobble head if its in eye sight its illegal. but for the most part a screen can not project a motion in view of driver unless its navigation.
