Cerwin Vega Stroker
I am finally a Cerwin Vega dealer, but have not heard their new product before. Has anyone got any opinions of the new strokers? I am thinking of replacing my Audiobahn setup in our show car with Cerwin Vega. At least the subs for starters as they do not make very big amps right now. If anyone has heard the new 10" or 12" please let me know, I want to put my 1800 watt rms amps on them, one on each sub.

Nothing audiobahn can touch even the shittiest cerwin vega. The new strokers are way different than the old, but they take a pounding about as well. The strokers take a ton of power to play and the box is hard to pinpoint to what you like. That makes people say they arent a good sq sub. People think an sq sub should sound good in a shoebox...

The old school ones were very impressive, I suspect the new stuff is even better (from all the reviews I've seen). They are a bit fussy about box dimensions though, so do take care with your specs.
If you get them in, post a review and let me know if they're still made in the USA (though I still have 2 extra TC-2000's here that I have no room for, and I'm not in the market for subs!) Kind of curious though.

Thanks a bunch for the opinions I beleive I will try a pr of the reg Strokers for myself though I'm not sure if the current box will be appropriate for these, they are about 1.07 each sealed without driver installed. The Vega recommended is: STROKER 10 1.25 cu.ft.
STROKER 12 1.5 cu.ft. What do you guys think I should do a 10" or 12" with the boxes I already have? I already have to do some work on the top as far glass and bondo to accommadate the octagon shape of the mounting ring, I just don't have the time to redo the whole enclosure. Also I will be using the 1800watt RMS each amps I already have, one on each sub. Thanks in advance for the help...

Don't know if things permit, but inverse mounting may be easier to negotiate
The strokers I've used (back in the day) were very picky about box size!. Would inverse mounting a 10 give you the proper airspace?
You could call/email CV and perhaps ask if they'll work OK, but if you put them into the wrong box and come back saying they don't sound the greatest, it won't be much of a test.....also, if you're using the car to demo the new products, you should really overengineer the box to really impress people.

First wassup Fosgate! That said, who the hell is building Cerwin now? All of the shop down here ran into the same problem that we did... CV just dropped off the map one day, no return phone calls, nor emails, or anything. I've got a friend who actually ordered a butt load of stuff last year and still hasn't received it to this day. I hear they went Canadian, others say bankrupt, we don't know what to believe. But, what I do know is that their mid/tweet sets are crap, I've got 5 clients who have blown at least 3 sets each, within a week of us/them installing them (and no they weren't running full range, Fosgate they were high-passed...LOL)! It sucks too cuz we used to sell a butt load of the Stroker series subs, too bad. TranceD

Cerwin Vega is owned by The Stanton Group.
The change happened in the early 2000's (2003 I believe). I am more of the old school CV as I still run 1 15" VEGA series from the late 90's. VERY LOUD & LOW SUB, for sure!!!
Whenever they changed, CV got less attention they they used to. From what I have heard, they still put out some good subs, but some say not what they used to.

Here are the new CV's subs reviews & forum thread posts:
NEW STROKER REVIEW: http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=177837&page=2&highlight=stroker *Post at bottom of page by RFCV (which is me)*.
NEW STROKER PRO REVIEW: http://caraudiomag.com/testreports/0510cae_cerwin_vega_stroker_pro15_car_audio_subwoofer/
NEW V-MAX: http://audioforum.termpro.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?/ubb/get_topic/f/8/t/025431.html
Since this forum is a different format than others & I don't come here that often, I haven't figured out how to make the links clickable without pasting into browser. I know there is a way because I have read the thread about the proper use of this format in the 'Lounge' before & all that I mainly took from it was breaking the paragraphs which is the main thing I needed to know. Anyhow, besides the links you can find out more about the new CV line of subs by going to different audio forums & doing a search for Cerwin Vega & Strokers. The best audio forum about CV talk is www.termpro.com which I am the most active in & a Moderator.
