does the length of screws used to build a box matter, or wats a good length and would something lik drywall screws work?

well if you are useing 3/4 board then I like to use 1.5 or 1.625 inch screws with lots and lots of glue

i use 1 5/8" drywall multipurpose screws.. but i have to drill a pilot hole as to not split the wood

If you have access to a nail gun and compressor, it's a load easier, but yeah drywall screws do in a pinch. Much longer than 1.5" and you have issues with splitting.

predrill, and if using MDF you can actually use the head of the screwgun's phillips bit as a countersink. 1-1/4 or 1-5/8 sheetrock screws are great...

if glued properly. I wouldnt go with much of a nail, 6d at the most if all you have is a framing gun...

You might wanna think twice before you do you box building project. Have a flat table with clamp to hold the boxes and it important you make pilot holes or you can use counter-sink drill to have the screw drill in nicely.
