 the better one

which would be the better sub, a 12in kicker cvr or 13in jl w3v3.  prob be in their proper ported box but might end up in a sealed.  or is there something else you would recommend another brand.  it was to be around 400 watts rms

I'd rather run the JL sub over Kicker anyday. Unless you're talking about the Solo X. Which in this case you're not.

well even though jl w3's are nice way way way to over hyped i have seen and heard so many setups that could flat out beat them without a sweat. in my opinion i would just listen around to see what you like. Also L5's and l7's are nice and powerful but they get way to much credit. I have a buddy of mine that has 2 10" kicker CompVR's that are the second version in a dual 2 cubic foot box with an JBL bp600.1 and they hit way louder and hits lows harder than my brothers 3 jl w3's with an Hifonics 1200wamp. and my buddy payed only $100 for them compared to my brothers $500.  im just trying to say that it honestly is personel preference use what subs sound good to you.
