Scott Owens (Pioneer-Kinetik) just backed up the first official WR of over 180 in db drag history today.

180.1 was backed up with a 180.2

must be at a 3x to be officially any type of a record.....

also ask alan on termpro who has the official record....he will say scott. alan did his number in september at a 2x show. in october at WF's a 4x show he did a 179 and backed it up with a 179.7. at Scott's show scott did a 180.1 and backed up the 180.1 with a 180.2 to get the 180.1 to hold down the record.

Section 10 - World Records
10-1 A dB Drag Racing staff member must be present in order to establish a new World Record.
10-2 World Records may only be set at Triple Point events and the dB Drag Racing World Finals.
10-3 Only current dB Drag Racing members may set World Records.
10-4 To establish a new World Record, the competitor must beat the old record twice at the same event. The lower of the competitor's two record-breaking scores will be used as the new record.
10-5 Any time a competitor posts a score that could potentially result in a new World Record, the following procedures shall be undertaken to insure the validity of the score...

  • The competitor's vehicle (and podium) shall be immediately impounded by the dB Drag Racing officiating staff.
  • The officiating staff will then perform a mandatory Vehicle Audit.
  • The SPL measurement equipment shall be inspected and tested for proper operation. If it is determined that an equipment malfunction has occurred, the competitor's score shall be nullified. Once the problem with the equipment has been rectified, the competitor's vehicle will be re-judged.
  • The officiating staff must unanimously agree that the competitor's score is a valid score. If the officiating staff cannot reach a consensus on the validity of the score, the competitor's score shall be nullified. Depending upon the nature of the dissent, the competitor may be re-judged or disqualified as circumstances dictate.

dont forget if wayne wipes out the W R for this yr due to class rule changes that may no longer be. I know that Scotty will be pissed. But I know scotty and he'll do it agian. That 180+ he did at the meca worldfinals 2yrs ago was awsome but at the kick non-offical but nice try. it still was sweet. what was that 183 or 180.3? I forget that was 2yrs ago.

there will be at least a 3+ class that unless it changes the build rules totally then it will still be legal (only way i see it happening is if 8 woofers is deemed too many which would shoot alot of the extreme 5+ guys in the foot),  which i dont see happening it would just cost the competitors more money to rebuild. wayne was also the one that helped with scotts testing at usaci. wayne was there in case they were going to have a 3x db drag show and in their testing scott was pulling consistant 180's. they still record WR's by the year.

scoot also was the first officially and legally to do 180's in usaci and iasca.

Was simply makeing a statment that Alan was the first to break 180 in Db drag.

http://www.termpro.com/asp/leaderboard1.asp.

Alan WAS certified at a 180.5 even thought  it wasn't considered a recored due to only a 2x. I'll bet you next year we see a 181+ out of Alan.

Scott may be a great guy but I(my self) feel  Alan should have gotten credit for it FIRST. I guess he will just have to wait to break the 181 mark and show the WORLD again that he can doit....with just a SINGEL SUB.

nothing at all against alan but at finals if he was doing 180's the month before why not do it at finals and get all the glory ? he even said had scott been at the show were he did 180.5 that scott probbably would have done a 181. (mods on termpro deleted it) im not disrespecting alan at all he is a many time world champion in his own right and amoungst the top 4 or 5 extreme guys over all in the world (#1 in his class). as competitors they know what they have to do to make their scores and world records stick. they have to back up the score as well.....and since the title of the thread is official WR what bearing does your post have with this thread?
