 alpine 600 watt amp enough?

i was wondering if i buy the alpine pdx-1,600 (600watt mono) is it enought to power 2 10''s 600 watt rms kicker subs? or would i need a 1200 watt amp to power them im confused on how the amp works (for example if i buy the 600 wat amp does that mean it will give each sub 600 watt  or each sub 300 watts).

It will probably do less than 300 per sub.   I'd avoid Alpine amps alltogether, but some guys have good luck with them.  Whether it's enough, that's personal preference.   The subs can probably take more, but 500W or so total may be enough for your listening tastes.

Really enough said right there.   I owned one alpine amp (large v 12 when they first came out).   It wasn't stable at whatever it claimed to be, was over-rated, (unless you have 14.4V somehow), got very hot, went into protect a lot, and didn't really sound that impressive.  From the buily quality and cheap looking components, I'm guessing they haven't really invested heavily in this.

Alpine used to have a phenominal head unit (and still does have damn nice ones), but I've been underwhelmed with their amps and speakers for the money.

The above amp's MSRP is 500$ LOL...can be had for around 260ish online.  400 watts at 4 ohms and 1% distortion.

For starters, you can get an AMERICAN made amp that'll do more real world power for the same or less money:

or

Or

OR if you absolutely must pay 250$ for a Chinese/Korean made amp, you could get something like this:

or probably a dozen others.

Anyway, you could find more power, better performance, more reliable, AND American made for the same money.

So the question was asked about a PDX amp which is a good amp, I think we have discussed this in the past in other posts. The PDX series are very nice, I run 2 4.150's and a 1.1000 no issues at all. the other car had and MRD-M1000 which is good and a MRV-F900 which is one of the best out there. You do get what you pay for.

PDX 1.1000:

1000W @ 1% distortion and 14.4V    550$

Seriously, this doesn't look like a 550$ amp to me.   For 550$ you can get a 2KW Mmats.

The MRV-F900 looks pretty well built, but 3200$ retail?   I'm not even going to go into what kind of options you have for even half that price.

Glad that Alpine stuff is working out for you.  I bought one once and returned it within a week.  It was a POS and the build quality of all but their highest end stuff looks rather poor for what you pay.
