If your looking for SPL you can get a DDZ1(used). amplifier for around the same money as the amps you listed. But you will need an alternator. The Kicker SX amps are OK but the are digital which is good but not geared towards no frills power. If SQ is desired then the Kicker or the JL are both strong and clean but neither are SPL pure power no frills. both are 1 Ohm stable. The other 2 amps I am not familiar with.

Do you have a preference as far as new or used, each different manufacturer seems to have good and bad years a few allways good and a few allways bad. There are a couple of guys on ebay that have many amps that are used but are high qaulity and since they are used they are much cheaper. I can afford just about anything on the market car audio wise and I have 1 new amp and 1 10 year old amp I paid 1500 for the old amp and would not have been disappointed if I had paid 2500 for it. Try to narrow it down to specifically what you want, the more detail the better. IE: alternator size, type of music, speaker type, quantity, sound processing, etc. etc. There are several guys on this site that can give you some real solid advice if they know what you are trying to set up. If I wanted SQ and crazy loud with any music I would use 12's first, 15's if I had a lot of power to give them and an 18 or 2 only if I was so overpowering with an amp that had a dampening factor of 1000 + and was insanely strong. If I were using an 18 I would power it with the same thing that I am powering 4 -15's with now. I like very crisp precise bass. Once we figure out what you like then we can figure out what will provide it.

well i prefer to buy new, just me i guess, but all those amps i can get for bout 5 to 650 dollars, then i have bout 4 to 500 to spend on one or 2 subs, i dont usually have time to listen to the stereo cuz i have 4 kids and if im not at work im watching the kids, so i usually only get to listen to it on the way to and from work, its only bout a 15 min drive. i have the alpine spx 17-ref for my front components, and i have an amp pushin those, i either want one 18" or one 15" or two 12's i like to have a lil sound quality but im more of a bass head and i want just enuff bass to pund real hard for a min or 2 but not over power my components where i cant here them. i could get a new alternator if i have to and a cap and one battery but i dont want to go further than that

I suggest the Kicker SX \1250.1 and 2 RE 12's - It wouldn't be to much for factory electrical and it will cover the entire spectrum of music well. The SX1250 differs from most Kicker amps it is one ohm stable I have had many of them their very adjustable and they look nice. They have problems if you run them below 1 Ohm and they don't have much power at 2 Ohms but overall they are solid. Check out my gallery you will see most of Kickers product line.

I don't think you will see 150's with an SX1250 amplifier. Keep in mind that 151 is twice as loud as 148. SPL and SQ are different when you start getting into high end SQ stuff the sound is much different the sub amp in my truck has the best spec sheet I've ever seen it is rated at 3000 Watts and benches around 6000 and for reference lets say it does 154 Db's(Amp #1)- I had a different amp in the same setup a DDZ1 also 3000 Watts and benches around 5000 and for reference lets say it does 154db's.(Amp #2) The thing is amp #1 has so much control over the woofer and so little distortion the sounds are different. It goes from enjoyable to listen to a sharp pain in your ears when it gets loud enough, Amp # 2 messes up your vision etc but never really gives you the sharp pain it is not as accurate in handling the movement of the sub. Most guys that build systems for the street are acustom to distorted bass. With what I know about MTX equipment which is not a lot I would guess that high 140's are very short lived and few and far between and it could only be achieved in the 50+ Hz category which would be a setup somewhat lacking tone balance for a daily driver. I don't know how well I got across what I am trying to say but SPL in the 150's with high SQ and a daily driver is an expensive proposition. I've been building systems as a hobby for 20+ years. I have some of the best equipment made with all the frills and it is set up pretty good and probably gets in the low 150's. Take a look at my Gallery 150+ is not easily achieved especially while maintaining functionability, reliability, and maintaining SQ. http://forum.soundpressure.com/ Check this sight out it is SPL guys

Call me cliche or whatever but u can never go wrong with a JL audio amp. the only thing u have to worry about would be your cars alt, batt, and rms wattage of the subs really.

JL has a good product line. A 1000/1 pushing a 12W7 0r 13W7 is capable of being very loud and they maintain SQ well. A nice feature on a JL Amp is it will provide the same output at different impedences so if you decide to make changes in your Sub set up the amp will accomidate anything. with the Kicker and most amps you don't have as much freedom if you decide to change things.

The Kicker 2500 is $1200 give or take, I had 2 SX 1250.1's which is also Kicker 2500 watts. I took them out and replaced them with a Zapco C2K 9.0 which is a 2200 Watt 2 channel ( I paid 1000 Used) you can get one around 1500.00 new and it was unbelievable how much louder and clearer it was compared to the 2 Kicker Amps. I have never owned a sundown amp but I have heard they are strong. It sems to be one of the brands that a lot of SPL competitors use.
