Recommend a Alarm system to replace old Clifford 800-IQ

My 8 yr old clifford 800-iq finally bit the dust; and I need a replacement soon. But the problem is that information on alarm technology is .......well about 8 yrs old. Is clifford still as good as it used to be? Or should I be looking for another brand? I want to be up to date on current alarm systems before I buy one.

And I 've never installed a alarm before but I'd like to do it myself. Since I just got a dvd on alarm install. Good idea or bad idea, give me some input .

Also I don't need remote start, my car has a 6 speed manual.

Thanks!

Well, I did a bunch of research I'm going to stick with a clifford alarm. My old clifford alarm was really good ,except for this last year. So unless you can give me a good reason not to stick with clifford, clifford it will be!
