 Poly fill

Where can i find some of that poly fill stuffing used in sub boxes? I think the box I made may be coming up short on air space. Any help would be appreciated!

wal-mart - the arts/crafts/sewing area.  It's used to fill pillows.

 poly fill

Thanks man, I just was not sure it was the same stuff. Hey do you know if it makes a diff how close the back of the magnet is to the bottom of the box as far as the sound goes? The box is for (3) CV V-MAX 12". I used 3/4" and made the box as close to the tot box volume as I could which was 1.01 cubes ea.  I even put some bracing in . There are some angles which may have caused some loss of air space but i can't see as it would be as much as to cause the box to sound the way it does. But I don't know I have not built one in a while. Just does not hit like it does in the prefab box i have which does not fit my Z.  Any suggestions? Email me at wild300zx@comcast.net I would like to send you some pics of it.

you can also use the polyfill on the rolls, but you would need some sort of spray on glue so that the rolled polyfill doesn't touch or embed itself in the sub's cone

The distance from teh back of sub scone to the back of box WILL affrent the freq that the box likes to play. Shallow boxs like higher notes deep boxs like LOW notes.

Just be carful ass to shallow or to deep can have OTHER issue's with the way the subs sound and proform.

I've never heard that before.

Volume is volume is what I've always been led to believe.

 Shallow box

Yes i had always thought as long as the box volume was to specs it did not matter how shallow the box as well as long as there was enough depth for the subs. But now I'm wondering since I tried just 2 of them  in a prefab box made of only 5/8"  and it's 14"d x 13" x13" they sounded much better. tryin some poly fill this week in different amount before I write it off and build a new one. I also may glass some rings to the top a couple inches higher off the box to give them some more depth.  The magnets are about 2.5 inches off the bottom at a slight angle now.

just experiment with the amount of polyfill...try not to overfill the box

i went to purchase 4lbs ( 1lb for every sqft)  for my box and was going to pay something like 20 bucks. anyway as i was driving home i saw a recliner sitting on the side of the road, i cut it open and took what i needed from that. i think it makes a little difference, how much im not sure.

moral: dont buy it, wait for bulk trash.
