 Pioneer DEH-P5200

I would like to know if anyone knows how to hook up a car stereo with out hooking it up in a car. I have made a custom display for it and wanted to be able to turn it on and what not before actually putting it in a car. My real question is what do I use for the power and what would the wire diagram be.... since I have a power, ac,and ground.. and what about the antenna? can anyone help me? thanks

you need an AC/DC convertor to hook up your head unit without being in your car...basically a batter charger. But without the clamps, not saying to cut the clamps off of a batter charger. You can find them at Best Buy, Circut City, and even your local Car Stereo shop should be able to supply you with one. You can't hook up the accessory wire on your display. Run the "12Volt Constant" wire through a switch, and flip the switch on and off every time you want to play the head unit...and then hook the ground up right to the convertor...so the positive from the convertor to a toggle switch, from that to the "12 Volt Constant" on the head unit and the ground from the head unit to the negative on the AC/DC converter...

you might need a dc power supply 5amps maybe

you can use a 12volt adapter if you have it but you wont be able to pump up the volume or you might over load it, i have a deh-525 and assuming the wiring diagram is the same , you would wire it like this. first of all the acc and constant 12v wires have to be connected to gether then hooked up to the pos of the power supply( i think they are red and orange), next the black ground wire should be connected to the negative. i dont know how you are going to hook the antenna up, maybe you can stick in a piece of wire, that worked for me. the antenna wire is blue i believe, you dont need to use this, all that does is provide a 12volt pos out put to a power antenna or it turns on an amplifier when ever the head unit is turned on. the speaker wires connect the same. , you can get a dc power supply from ebay . assuming your head unit is 45 watts, that unit will draw about 4amps of current so you would need a power supply of 12volts that supplies at least 4amps.
