 JL Audio W6v2 subwoofers

Hello,

I've been looking at the JL Audio W6v2 subwoofers. And wondering what your guys thoughts are on those subs?

Also with 2 of those subs would an amp like this one be a good decision?

US AMP Merlin MD1D-

jl is pretty pricy. if you can find one for a demo, check out a boston acoustics G512-44. super clean (like the W6), damn loud (louder than the W6), more efficient (86db 1w/1m, vs. 94db 1w/1m), and is at least 100 bucks cheaper.

 Worth the money...

If you can save up a little more money or make a few more lay-away payments, you will be very happy in the end. My wifes ION will smoke systems with more power and bigger subz. Not only that...JL Audio is the best you can get. You can't go wrong with #1. It cost more, but you get more. I've been using JL subz for 12 years and JL amps for the past 3.

that's kind of a broad statement...the best for what? JL has amazing subs with amazing technology behind them and a lot of innovation in their pedigree, however, what makes them the "best"? the SQ of a boston G5 is easily as good as or better than a W6 and as good as a W7 at not even half the cost and better efficiency (power isn't always everything you know), meaning less cost for amps and electrical system components, for the same spl. for SPL, there are far better subwoofers out there than the W7 for reproducing low frequencies. their amps are very nice, however, not all that efficient, with no electrical upgrades and a 500/1, you're going to have a considerable dip in your lights. overall there's better products for application specific components at more attractive prices.

sicaudio as well as several others i've met and talked to in real life have sold me on hifonics, so i'll be picking up an olympus 1612 to replace my really old a/d/s box. for the price, even if it's half as clear and loud as a W7, it's still twice the value.

the W7 does accomplish what only select car audio woofers can however. tremendous crystal clear bass. very nice, however, still pricey.

depends on your amp, your car, and your listening habits.

Maybe nothing, maybe a new alternator.

if you wire those W6 subs in parallel so that they show up as 1ohm at the amp, then the US amp should be more than enough to power those subs.  Just don't go crazy with the amp gain settings

Yes that would work but before shopping for battery. Got to do some research to see which battery would be good to have.
