stock stereo to aftermarket amp and speakers

This is the plan. I have a AM/FM Cassette player stereo with common grounds that I want to add an aftermaker amp and speakers to. I also have an adjustable line output converter but don't know how to wire this to the head unit. The amp has hi-level and low-level inputs with speaker outputs. On the converter there are 2 positive speaker wires and 2 negative speaker wires with a brown wire between. If I were to connect the negative wires from the converter to the common ground head unit output...Then wouldn't that fry the converter? Any input is appreciated. Thanks

I have ran into this before and i have ran both negative wires to the common ground. You will not have True Stereo But it will work. A TAPE DECK WITH COMMON GROUND!!!!!!!!!!!? wouldn't it be easier to get a new deck with pre amp outs so you can enjoy Stereo sound and bass. Need any more insight e me. Chris
