JBL or Aftermarket - 2000 Avalon

I am considering replacing my head unit with an aftermarket stereo to compliment the subs I have installed. Would it be worth replacing the JBL sound system in the Avalon with an aftermarket head unit, or would that be a total waste of money?? As well as investing in new tweeters or 6 by 9s for the back speakers?? Thanks for the replies!

JBL system is amped from the factory in there so to get better cleaner sound with more output you would need to replace it all headunit and speakers adding an aftermarket voice amp. Then their will be a night and day diff in sound. Old lincon town cars had JBL and sure you pull out the headunit and tie into the factory amp and speakers but the sound didn't get much better so you go to change the speakers to better ones but now they need more power so they dont sound as loud. In the end you change it all so just plan on it from the start. Get the headunit wait get the speakers wait and get the amp. No reason to pay for the factory amp intergation harness if your not going to use it in the end.

i disagree with that. in my 99 towncar i kept the jbl system. i have them running off a 4 channel 400rms power acoustic, and its loud and clean. its a waste of money to buy more speakers, unless there worn out. jbl is top of the line.
