my head unit sucks...needs something
Pioneer UB4200. newer model. Is there anything i can do to make it sound worth a crap?
HU is preamped to a JLAudio 450/4 powering 2 Memphis 6.5's.
Sub Preamp goes to an MTX 1501d, 1000 watt mono block powering a L7 in a 3.4 ft3 ported enclosure.
4 guage powered, twisted RCA, clean install job.
Problem is it sounds like a clock radio. Also i have to turn the volume to about 80% just to hear it at decent level going down the road, yet even 100% still sounds like a clock radio at full blast.
IF i crank up gains on both amps, its louder at lower volume of course, but i get some noise in the system, slight power on noise too. still sounds like a clock radio
Other than lack of input power to the amps, its main issue is the fact that it literally sounds like a dull, flat old clock radio. EQ can help some but it colors the sound of how its supposed to be something horrible....Seriously, the OEM system my Civic (2005) model came with sounded 20x's better...that is sad.
Radio doesnt get good reception, stupid supertuner 3 crap. OEM recieved most stations well. Either way, the music sounds dull and lifeless, dunno how else to describe it but its just like how my clock radio sounds, maybe with less treble.
