I'm looking to purchase an Alpine head unit for my 82' Benz wagon. I'm fine with risking purchasing a well cared for used unit, as well as being open to purchasing new.
I'm a professional musician/performer/project studio owner - I couldn't care less about fancy graphics, or many bells and whistles; I want top sound quality, thorough eq, and a goodly amount of power from the built-in amp.
I've been eying the CDA-9815, a very well respected unit from several years back - kind of had my heart set on it, but...
I helped my son install a stereo in his pickup, gear on my recommendation, so of course went with an Alpine head. It has the USB port on the face - pretty handy! I'm not an ipod owner, but certainly use USB flash drives, and I'm thinking either a flash drive, or a portable Hard Drive would be just super.
So, keeping in the same family as the 9815, with it's good power, sq, and parametric eq, has Alpine built any jewels with a USB input?
My son's unit has the USB on the face. I think that might interfere with the shift lever in the Benz, and I'd prefer a back USB...
Thanks - Joe
