Car wont stay charged after new CD player Install.
I recently bought a 1995 Toyota Corolla as a gas saver. No problems with the car. Last night I took out the factory tape deck and installed a new Kenwood CD player. Once I got it wired, it worked OK on ACC. I then tried to start the car and it was dead. Jumped it and let it run with the new CD player off for about an hour to charge it up. Then went to drive around the block with the CD player on(worked fine) and the car died on me as i was driving, the battery was dead again. So i jumped it again and cut the Power, Ground and Constant. Let it run for a few minutes and then went to bed. This morning it started fine after sitting all night. So im wondering if the battery is shot, but not having a problem with it before the install makes me wonder. Anyone have any ideas?????

Kinda screwy situation.... almost a bad connection symptoms.... Do parts stores not offer free battery and Alt testing where you are from?

I could try that out tonight. Just didnt think that the extra draw from an aftermarket deck would cause that big of a drain on the batt. and maybe the alternator cant keep up with it. Something to check out anyways. It just baffles me that the Batt drains that fast when i dont have a problem with anything without the new deck powered up.

Thats what I was originally thinking, but the factory deck did not cause this problem, and the kenwood was running fine while i had it turned on. I am confused!!!

So i had by brother test the batt and alternator. both good, we also tested the power wire, constant and ground and they are all good. starting to think the deck may be defective

well with the factory radio installed, it was probably wired correctly. Like SicAudio posted earlier, when you hooked up the kenwood deck, maybe there was one wire or two that weren't wired correctly, so it was eating up a lot of juice.
I would definitely go get a newer battery...perhaps a gold duralast or Superstart battery if you don't want to spend a lot for an agm battery such as kinetik or shuriken. I would also do the Big 3 electrical upgrade since your corolla is very old. The factory ground connections are maybe ok, but there might be some corrosion on them, so by doing the Big 3, it'll reduce resistance.
are you planning on adding an amp to power your speakers or just use the head unit to power your speakers?? planning on adding a sub??

I got a harness last night and rewired the factory harness, So I know I dont have any wires mixed. I put the kenwood back in last night with the harness, let the car run in the driveway with the deck on for about a half an hour. Turned off the car and went to turn it back on and it was dead again. So I jumped it and put the factory deck back in and am having no issues. Im gonna see if any friends have an extra deck laying around and put that in to see if the same problem occurs. Also I bought the car from a friend who had put in a new battery last year. Eventually I am going back to my glory days and putting subs in, that is if I can get this problem figured out.

did you notice any corrosion around the battery contacts?? is the aftermarket head unit grounded behind the dashboard?? I would have your local car parts store do a free alternator check to see if your alternator is working properly. The battery is only about a year old, so it should have enough voltage or at least have enough to power your head unit since you don't have an amp powering your speakers or powering subs and it seems like you're not playing your music with the car off for more than an hour!!
