Clarion VZ300 has trouble with CDs

Hello all!  I have in my van a Clarion VZ300.  Its great but quirky (high and low pass changes dont save in eq, but thats not why I'm here).  My problem is that when listening to any CD, it pauses at random intervals for random lengths of time.  It doesn't matter if its a CD-R or a brand new "real" CD.  The odd thing is it plays DVD's just fine.  Do I need to clean something or just put everything on a thumb drive?

you can try those cd cleaners...they have audio instructions that will guide you. You might have to clean it a few times.

DO NOT use a CD lens cleaner on any car audio HU, Esp a Clarion. It cost me $120 to get the lens replaced on my DRX9175L back in '98. Use a can of compressed air used for cleaning your PC keyboard. Just insert the wand in the CD slot and slowly and carefully sweep from side to side.

Too late, I already ran the laser cleaning disc, and it worked perfectly!  Perhaps they've improved over the last 13 years?  I'll probably do the can-o-air trick next time, because I most likely will have lost the disc by then.
