 Installation Heating Problem!! HELP??

I have an installation problem.. My system was put in by "professionals" in 05 into my 03 Altima.. They were 2-Rockford Fosgate P1 and a Rockford Fosgate P3002 amplifier.. They were all bought new back in 2005.. I had taken them out and sold my car about a month ago and just recently got a Black 2010 Maxima.. I had some professionals install my equipment in my vehicle and they played awesome for the first few days.. I was getting in my car and was turning my music on but the subs didnt come on.. I opened my trunk and the heat rolled out.. I moved the sub enclosure off the baffling that is behind the rear seats and felt my amp.. I thought the metal was going to melt it was so hot.. I turned the enclosure around and the red protect light was on.. Any ideas??? Maybe it's a heating problem?? What would solve this problem??

they may have miswired it to low on the ohms depending on how they wired the subs......the P series amps always got slightly hot which for class D amps is bad... if it was not mounted flat it prolly cooked... does it play once it colls down? I would take it back and make them check it... if they mounted it anything but flat make them replace it...it is common knowledge that all amps use convection cooling and for the best result have to be flat...it is in the manual..

Unhook your amps power supply with a screwdriver (the red fat cable) and wrap it in electrical tape to prevent a fire Next drive back up to those "Pro's" and have em fix their work of art. Before you leave let the car thump for about 20 minutes at a respectable volume and feel the cables for heat
