How to install new rear speakers for my 2003 sunfire.

Hey All, I just bought two alpine type S speakers for my 2003 sunfire and i cant find a way to get at the old ones to remove them. It seems like I have to take apart the whole back of my car. Is there an easier way to do this or does anyone have any suggestions?

I don't think there's any easier way to it. Most rear speakers are in the rear deck and to access the speakers involves removing the rear seat cushion and rear side paneling in order to be able to lift off the rear deck. The rear speakers nowadays seem to be top mount. I had a 1986 pontiac grand am and I liked the fact that the rear 6x9's were bottom mount, so it was a lot easier to change them out.

I think you can buy the full data sheet for your sunfire through crutchfield for about $10. It'll show you what bolts you need to remove and how to access the rear deck.
