 First Port Box Success

I'v been around car audio since the early 90's and until now have never built a ported box that was worth a crap. Admittedly I gave up on them early on and just continued building sealed boxes. BUT, with the software available today and a bit more patience, I tried again. Using 2 12" Alpine subs, my calculations and software told me to build a by-chamber enclosure at 1.75 cubic feet per chamber. I used 4" ports tuned at 35 hz. HOLY COW, I have never heard two 12s respond like this before. They hit good from around 65-70hz all the way down to around 30-35hz with their peak being in the range of 40-55hz. I would suggest to anyone thinking about building a sealed box to spend the time to design and build a ported box! I couldn't be happier with this on.

I think the peeps on here that have also been doing car audio already know this. I've seen them list software programs for building all kinds of boxes. It just takes more to design a really good box...thanx to the advancement of computer programs
