 HO alt or 2nd battery

I purchased a amp that does 2200w @ 2 ohms and now i have to figure out how to power it.  I'm not sure as to whether to get a DB electrical 220 amp alt or a NSB 100ft.

I was also looking a batcap 2000's. I got rid of the redtops i had in the back so im open to ideas.

The car will not be played with the car off if that helps. I have been reading multiple threads on this subject i just can't figure it out. I would like to stay under 300 so

1 220amp db electrical alt= 229+shipping   2) 1 nsb 100 ft = 235+shipping or 3) 2 batcaps 2000's 300 local thanks for the help-Jon

What amp? And I would have kept the red tops and got the alternator until you could afford a really good car battery. Tell us the equipment you have now. batts/specs alt/specs.

I bought a digital designs S2. it does 2200 x1 @ 2ohms or 1100 x2 @ 1 ohm. I still have the red tops i just took them out because someone said they were the wrong type of batteries. so i figured why not just start over on the electrical. I currently have a stock 105 amp alt big three and two runs of 0 gauge going to the back. With the red tops on the Hifonics 1610d my voltage didnt flinch but i still thought i should start over.

I would get the alt and throw the redtops back in. Red tops are better than no batteries.

right now with a 105amp alternator you will only get in your electrical system enough power to run 1512 watt maxed output . take a 200 amp alternator and do your math

200amps x 14.4 volts which is charging system output

200 x 14.4 = 2880 watts  this would be peak or max output

.80% x 2880 watts = 2304 total wattage output your 200 amp altenator could produce

this first calculation is done on 100% efficiently but amps are not that efficient maybe 80%

is more realistic...

VP-2500(KHC2400)VITAL POWER - VP2500 - 15.9" X 9.3" X 6.8"

vital power batteries are design just for car audio. It blows the red top or yellow top batteries away. they are better than kinetic batteries also .... but cost is more

I haven't heard of those batteries but I would recommend Shuriken batteries as they have amazing performance for their price. That or a north star battery.

And a google search brings up nothing on your vital power batteries. That isn't good.

Your "this is how it is" electrical system math is complete BS btw.

yup... he is forgetting that the car has that 105 amp alt for a reason...it needs at least 60% of it... which leaves around 41 useable amps left over...just barely enough to run 2 or 3 decent size AGM batteries.... but I would still recommend an HO alt with the redtops vs just a batt and stock alt for that power level...
