Trying to decide on a good set of subs for my next install.
I'm looking to run four 15s on around 2000-2500 watts RMS.
I have always liked Rockford but it seems their newer stuff isn't really that good until you get into their upper end lines. I was thinking maybe the HiFonics BRZs? They look good on paper and the price is right. I'm trying to spend around $100-$150 per sub.
Any suggestions, Thanks.
I wouldnt spend that much on the BRZ subs... they can be had under 100 each if ya know who/where to look...
4 OA15's ( Obsidian, made by Sundown and also part owned...) on that power (2500) would sound amazingly good!! right close to 600 as well..(again if ya know who or where to look ) :)
OK, I'm sold! Those Obsidian Subs look amazing. I had never
heard of them, thanks for the tip.
So I almost have this system planned:
4 Obsidian 15" dual 2ohm subs and a HiFonics BRZ2400.
According to HiFonics this should get me around
2400 watts at a 1 ohm load.
Subs will be facing up with a square port facing to the rear in a Ford Expedition.
Anyone care to make predictions as to the SPL at the kick panel?

if u have the proper electrical ull get closer to 2600 b4 rise..
in the proper enclosure u should get at least a 145 possibly more..
just had a 17 yr old kid using my old BXI12d4 subs on 700 rms...(350 to each sub that i used to put 1100 to each...) and he did a solid 135.6 sealed in the trunk...in a crappy leaky box...

150 for a sub that can handle 500rms watts?
kinda slim lines.. specially for 15"s..

Worse than that, a better quality pair of 12's will out beat the system with 4 15's. Four cheap subs on low power will be a waste of space. I'd assume there won't be any electrical upgrades being on the budget it is.
yeah man.. you'd be lucky to find a decent pair of 10s for that price..
if you want spl.. i'd recommend kicker 15" L5s.. there reasonable and do rated power.
you can find some between 180-250$ a peice
keep in mind you cant just expect to throw a 2500 watt amp in a vehicle and expect it to work good.. you need to do the big 3..
need to run 0 gauge wire.. fused.. and you need to upgrade to a 200 amp alt.

Alright now.... I'm getting mixed opinions, some are recommending Obsidian Subs and than others are saying there cheap and a waste of space. Those who say that these are
cheap subs, are you saying this based off of price or have
you had bad results from using these. Last night I tried
to find some negative comments on these subs and could not.
I understand that someone may want to sell a $1000 sub
instead of a $160 sub. But the spec numbers of these seem to be pretty good and I tend to trust the suggestion of folks
like sicaudio. Someone please tell me if I'm wrong before I spend this money.
Thanks

well i sell BRZ subs and Kicker subs but I dont sell Obsidian ( sundown ) so who ya gonna trust? the guy recommending a brand he doesnt even sell and makes nothing on? or the noob that thinks krapper subs are worth a crap? lol
you wont find a bad review on the OA subs because Jacob Fuller ( Sundown Audio ) is part owner and doesnt make krapper junk... the OA15 will take well over 1kw per sub daily...trust me.. they are severely under rated and 1 15" OA will shit on any L series kicker with ease...you will however find a crapload of bad reviews on square kickers...even from me and i sell them... too noobs that insist they are awesome lol

Some times we all have to away from what we are used to,
this coming from a guy who has used RF since the early 90s.
np man ;) if I was gonna bullshit ya i woulda just offered to sell ya the subs and amp for cheaper and made a buck on it... but for the budget ya had the OA is a ton better sub imo and very very musical as well...
sorry i didnt reply.. i dont stay on here 24/7.
are you calling me a noob? without any idea of my experience and background?
and your calling kicker bad? well your entitled to your own opinion i suppose.. yeah kicker sucks if your in a SQ install.
but spl, i think square has a little more surface area.
for the price of a L5 or L7 you cant beat the performance.
