 Help me plz

ok so i just have some lame shit im putting in my car ..

(1000watt Sony amp 400rms 800 peak watt JL sub in a bandpass box )

the sub cuts out at mid to high volume and my amp runs hella hot

so i looked a few things up checked all my wires and everything is good

so i tryed a diff sub and amp (Alpine 400watt amp n sub)

same thing happens it cuts out at like 25-35 n max is 45

if u have any ideas lemme know plz

batt n alt are new within the last year

It would help to know precisely what sub you have, and how you're connecting it to the amp. Also the amp models.

Sounds to me like you may have an impedance mis-match -- the impedance seen by the amps is below its intended minimum.

    i also tryed the alpine amp with the jl (my friend wanted his sub back so nomore alpine to try) and it also cuts out

    So I'm guessing you're trying to bridge the amp with the sub's coils wired parallel? That's a 2 ohm mono load on 4 ohm mono stable amps. They're doing what they're supposed to do.

    You need to wire the sub's coils parallel for 8 ohms.



    Instead of what you're trying to do, which must be this (pictures shows a mono amp instead of a bridged 2 ch):



    That amp should still produce a decent amount of power. Sony's amps don't gain much by reducing the impedance of the driven load, likewise they don't lose much by increasing it.
    I think it's a 340 vs 400w difference. Audibly about impossible to tell the difference.

    Of course the biggest improvement - it won't shut down.
