 Newbie with question

Buying a deck. I know I need a dash kit; do I need to buy anything else with it, like a harness or something? I drive a Pontiac. Also, think I can install this myself, maybe just by watching a how to video? I saw JPS's video and he made it look pretty simple. Thanks.

check out metraonline.com  you will need a wiring harness adapter, dash install kit and thats pretty much it, unless your specific vehicle needs a power antenna adapter( you can call metra they will give you the exact info, and it comes with the instructions) and it is very easy to do

You mean the fuse on the + wire close to the battery? Then you fuse for the wires max ability to pass current. If you buy a kit it usually comes with the right size fuse so there shouldn't be any problems

Ah, ok. My car is already wired from a previous hook up. Guess I have to see how big the wire is. Thanks.

This is the wire. What kind of fuse would work for this size? Also, what would the other end be called that connects to the battery?

Its hard to tell but an 8g(thats what it looks like) wire is good with a 100amp fuse and 4g wire is good for a 150amp fuse. Im not sure the exact name of the battery terminal connector(thats what i call it) but you can find them in 8g at your local autozone, pepboys ect.. or if there is an audio shop near you they will have it as well. Also to learn a bit more go check out the12volt.com and bcae1.com they will get you on the right track to what you need to learn to do it yourself.
