stereo seems to be working but no sound

I have an Alpine CDA-7965 stereo that's been installed for about 10 years. Never had any other problems with it. A fuse blew a couple days ago (under the hood for radio, clock and interior light). I replaced the fuse and now I can't get any sound out of my speakers. The head unit appears to be working fine, just can't get any sound out of the speakers. I run a subwoofer off of an external amp and that seems to work fine, but nothing from the speakers that are running straight from the head unit. I went through all of the other fuses to make sure there wasn't anything else blown. I also used the reset button to reset the unit several times and still nothing. Any ideas?

Are you sure of the model of your radio?  The reason I ask is that the CDA-7965 is a "dead head" meaning it has no internal amplifier for  speakers (everything has to be run off of amps).  If it is the CDA-7864, make sure the internal amp is turned on in the menu (I believe the default configuration is off for this deck when first powered up).

You're right. I was just looking at the manual, which lists 4 models. It's the 7863. I did think about the amp, but I can't figure out how to turn it on, if it is off. I've been through the manual and can't find anything about the amp. I did find a mute mode that was on. I turned that off and still no sound. I messed around with the audio processor a little, but that didn't do anything. Is there something I'm missing to turn the amp on/off? My worry is that whatever caused the fuse to blow, hit something in the unit too.

Thinking back, I don't think that year model had an internal amp that could be turned on/off.  You can try depressing the reset button (which will be a very small button which you will have to push with a pin between the face angle buttons on the very right side of the faceplate).

Has the radio been removed at all from the vehicle?  It could also be that the EQ/Norm switch on the radio chasis has been switched (but if the radio wasn't taken out I doubt this would be the problem).  If this switch was moved to EQ, the internal amp would stop working as well.
