hifonics brutus 12'' vs alpine type-r

OK i am new to sound systems and i was wondering which would be louder between a hifonics Brutus 12sqd4 or a alpine type-r( i will be getting 2 subwoofers). and is there really much of a big difference in loudness? and i was wondering will there be a big difference between the square and the round hifonics Brutus sub? i am on a budget and i am looking for something loud so if anyone can give me any better options i am all ears. my main thing is my buddy has 2 alpine type-r and i want to have a just as loud or louder system and i don't have much money to spend and i already have an amp.

If they were both in optimum boxes they will both get plenty loud but the Alpines will sound better. Get 2 of these and build your own box. If you have decent carpentry skills and some tools there are some really good box designs available. They will rape the Alpines and the Hifonics in a heartbeat.

You can get one d4 sub and give it 900 watts going easy with the gains. When you get another d4 it would be 1200 for the pair. I really wouldn't do it though. You have the expense of building a single box and then re building a box for the 2 subs. Just one of those subs will sound incredible. Get one and give it the 900 watts.

you can't just throw a sub in a box that you have laying around. it doesn't work that way. the odds are it will sound like ass. you have to have the right volume to match the driver.
