I have a pair of American Bass 12" XD's, I need an amp to power them. I'm told they are designed for high output rather than high quality so I may not have them long. In the mean time though I want to shake and rattle while I roll. I have been looking at6 amps to replace my (dont cry) 2 Soundstorm EV2000.2's. I currently run one amp to each sub wired for a 2 ohm load. The set up has no bang, no authority, no exclamation point, no bragging rights.
I used a kenwood head unit with 6 channel 4 volt outs, a soundstream capcell 400 an optima battery and a single 4 gauge fused wire for power and ground.
I would appreciate any help in matching a a decent amp. A dealer recomended a Hifonics brutus BRZ1100, but I'm skeptical about running a 1ohm load. I feel more comfortable with two amps running at 2 ohms. I can pick up the Brutus for about $230, or I can pick up a couple of Kenwood 8105's for $110 each.
What do you think? good choice or do you have a better recommendation? I figure my budget to be around $250 or so. I'm not rich, but my earlier purchase of the soundstorms show that buying on a budget cost more in the long run when you add in replacement cost. So with that in mind I realize that $250 is a static figure that can change.
Here are a few amps I saw out there;
Hifonics Brutus BRZ1100 $230 @ 1 ohm 1000 rms
Kenwood 8105 x2 $110 @2 ohms each 500 rms each
Soundstream Picasso PX1.550D x2 $117 each @ 2Ohms 400 rms each
