When you tune a substage really low like that you do several things. You dramatically lower the output and the box will peak really low. The other thing is that it won't likely have the ability to play very high. You ultimately want your front stage meaning front stage speakers to play down to where the sub leaves off. If not you have a hole so to speak.

i could try to design a box that plays to 20hz, but if you are going to be using a sony xplod sub i doubt you will be very successful. not to say that sony sucks or anything but 20hz is low and darn hard to broadcast without a ton of power and cone displacement. unless that is the only frequency you want to hear than a box with a narrow band width may be do-able.....
tell me what you mean by your subs can get as low as 18hz, are you telling me that you have played them that low or is that what is listed on the box as part of the specs?
your music most likely does not have material below 25-30hz so why lose performance trying to have a box that digs that low.
what amp will you be using, how many subs, and what is the demensions of the usable area in your vehicle for an anclosure. ill work something up based on that for you. but if you want my opinion i would work on an f3 of around 28hz meaning tuning around 30-36ish hz, as aposed to your desired 18-20hz....
