Install Details
Installer:
Me
Equipment:
Poineer HU, Alpine coaxials in the front, Sony coaxials in the rear, PPI PCX5800, 2x Digital Audio 15's, Knuconcepts cable all around. The Knuconceptz RCA's are the exact same as a set of Boss RCA's that I had in my last car. Both work/sound fine.
Description:
This is an install for a hippie friend of my fater's. Circuit city sold him the HU and coaxials and installed all that. I picked up the amp for 250 from my friend's pawn shop, and the subs/box were my old stuff. Sounds really nice and looks really clean/stealth. Still need to tweak the gains and crossovers, but it's nice enough for tonight (ran out of daylight about an hour before I finished). He wanted max trunk space and room to put a wakeboard on top..... So here it is...

The car
Kind of a beater, but pretty straightforward to get things in and out. Drilling for the power cable was a little rough, but I've done worse.

Vibrating electronics is a bad idea and an absolutely terrible idea when you're doing it with a subwoofer!

Considring these are junk subs off 300W or so. They sound good. I've foud the loading effect of downfiring subs is helpful 8 times out of 10

*Sigh* Again, how much difference is there between the amp on the side of the box or right next to it, and here? How much bumping and vibration is just driving down the street? They're cheap subs on 400 watts, it's a total non-issue

Very nice! Just one question. is the amp safe to be put in hte line of fire of the subs? Correct me if im wrong just not sure if that would be ok?

He has a good idea that it sounds really nice for the money he put in. The car is a sh!tbox though. Lotta burn marks in the upholstery from stoned hippies LOL.

I've downfired subs into amps before. Downfiring is ALWAYS accousticly sound, combined with space saving and air moving to improve cooling, it's done well for me.

The system Is the best part of the car without a doubt... Does this hippie-guy realize the system is worth more than the car? In any event looks good, dropped some points.

It's not my car, dope. The subs are slave made junk (learned my lesson with these), and probably the wireing too, if anyone knows a domestic wire manufacturer I'll use them in future.
